A Case Study Vidhya, a 13 year old girl stopped going to school in 2005. She was
in her 10th
grade and had exams in 2006. She was not able to see at all because
of total cataract (BE) due to juvenile diabetes. She was seen at our
camp and was offered surgery. As she was young we had to offer the
best possible cataract surgery with the best possible intraocular
lens in the world. With the support from Alcon Labs India who provided
us the intraocular lens, she underwent both eyes phacoemulsification
(the most advanced cataract surgical technique) with Acrysof Natural
IQ intraocular lens implantation. This was done as an outpatient basis
and it was a No injection, No stitch and No Patch cataract surgery.
She gained excellent vision and has now successfully completed her
exams. Ranjini Eye care also supported her treatment with the diabetologist.The report which came in Mathrubhumi Malayalam Newspaper. Seeing this report, Lions club came forward to award a scholarship to Vidhya to support her education. |
